I signed up for Relatives at Rootstech and I’ve already connected with a fourth cousin in California. She and some of her relatives are in my DNA matches so I recognised her name. I had around 48 relatives when I looked a couple of days ago and it has already gone up to 75. At the time of writing this there are over 45,600 people who have signed up.
I find it is useful to look at some of the more distant connections - I have a lot of 7-9th cousins. These can help you take your tree back further. You do need to confirm any suggestions though as they aren’t always correct.
Sign up before Rootstech happens and reach out. You will need an account on Family Search. You never know what you will discover!
If you haven’t signed up yet take a look at this excellent post from Roberta Estes of DNA Explained on how to make the most of Relatives at Rootstech: https://dna-explained.com/2025/02/08/relatives-at-rootstech-reveals-cousins-and-provides-dna-candidates.
Relatives at Rootstech will be available for a couple of weeks after the event on 6-8 March.
Looks like you’re my 8c2r! Hi Cousin!
Thanks Emma, a great reminder of how to make the most of the features available to enhance our research and how powerful Relatives connections are.
